Request deletion
Email us from the address linked to your account and we'll start the deletion. You don't need to give a reason.
Or write to hello@thoroughtrack.ie with the subject “Delete my ThoroughTrack account”.
This page doesn't collect any information. The button opens your own email app with a message ready to send. Please don't include your password or any health details.
What happens next
- We email you a confirmation. We send a one-time confirmation message to the verified email address on the account. An email request on its own never proves who you are, and we won't tell anyone whether an email address has an account.
- You confirm. Follow the instructions in that message. If you can no longer get into that email account, tell us and we'll check your identity another way before going ahead.
- We check the stable can carry on. If you're the only Stable Admin of a stable, we'll ask you to hand that role to someone else or close the stable first (see if you run the stable).
- We delete your account and email you to confirm it's done. You're signed out on every device.
Deleting in the app
ThoroughTrack is pre-release and isn't in the app stores yet. A Delete account option is being added to the app's account settings before store launch, and it will follow the same steps. Until it's there, please use email as above.
What gets deleted
- Your name, email address, login and password.
- Your membership of every stable, and any invitations waiting for you.
- Your sign-in sessions on all devices, and any push notification tokens.
- Any owner share links you created, which stop working.
- The encrypted copy of stable data on your devices, which is wiped.
What we keep, and why
- Records you entered
- Exercise, health and horse records you created (and, once corrections arrive, records you corrected) stay part of the stable's records, so each horse's history stays complete. They're linked to a pseudonymous ID instead of your name. This isn't the same as anonymous: your stable may still be able to work out who made a record from its context. They're kept for as long as the stable keeps its records.
- GPS routes (planned)
- Routes you rode are part of the stable's records and follow its location data retention periods: by default the link to you is removed after 90 days and the route after 365 days. See location data.
- Audit records and report access logs
- Kept for 365 days to keep the service secure and show who changed what.
- Encrypted backups
- Your data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 365 days, plus a 30-day safety margin, before they're deleted. Backups are only used to recover from a serious failure, and your deletion is re-applied before any restored data is used.
- A record of the deletion
- Internal IDs and dates only, with no name or email address, so the deletion can be re-applied if a backup is ever restored.
- Legal requirements
- Anything else the law requires us or your stable to keep, only for as long as required.
How long it takes
We aim to send the confirmation email promptly after your request. Once you've confirmed, we delete your account without undue delay, and in any case within one month, as data protection law requires. If something makes the request complex, we'll tell you why and how long it will take. Encrypted backups containing your data are deleted within 365 days plus the 30-day safety margin.
If you run the stable
If you're the only Stable Admin, you can either make someone else Stable Admin before deleting your account, or close the stable. When a stable is closed, everyone loses access and its data is deleted after a 30-day grace period, unless the law requires something to be kept. A Stable Admin will be able to export the stable's records before closing it (planned).
Deleting some data only
To delete or correct particular data without closing your account, email hello@thoroughtrack.ie and tell us what it is. Some records belong to your stable, so we may need to involve your Stable Admin. Corrections in the app are planned, and will keep a revision history so records stay trustworthy.
